"Shrek 2" and "The Smurfs" scribes J. David Stem and David N. Weiss have been brought on to pen a sequel to Disney's 2007 musical fantasy tale "Enchanted". Anne Fletcher ("The Proposal," "The Guilt Trip") will helm this entry which had a previous draft written by Jessie Nelson.
Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Idina Menzel and Susan Sarandon starred in the first film about an animated Disney princess who crosses over into the real world. It went on to make $340 million at the worldwide box office.
In other sequel script news, Jonathan Lemkin ("Shooter," "Devil's Advocate") has been hired to pen the third "G.I. Joe" film for Paramount Pictures. The new installment is expected to revolve around Dwayne Johnson's character Roadblock.
The film is aiming to get into production in the second quarter of 2015 ahead of a Summer 2016 release. Jon Chu was originally slated to return as director, that's no longer the case.
