Sci-Fi Moments Poll Gets A Surprise Winner

Polls are always good for arguments and SFX Magazine has unleashed a doozy with a recent list of what they claim to be the 'definitive' list of moments from sci-fi, fantasy, and horror in both film and television. 96,000 people participated in the survey and the results will surprise you. Here's the top ten:

1. "Doctor Who"
The Doctor and Rose's heartbreaking farewell at Bad Wolf Bay in "Doomsday".

2. "Marvel's The Avengers"
The Hulk owns Loki with his "Puny God" line.

3. "Alien"
John Hurt's cafeteria chestburster scene.

4. "Firefly"
Mal Reynolds kicks a bad guy into Serenity's engine in "The Train Job" episode.

5. "The Empire Strikes Back"
Luke learns that Darth Vader is his father.

6. "Blade Runner"
Roy's "tears in the rain" speech.

7. "Game of Thrones"
Roose Bolton's line at The Red Wedding.

8. "The Matrix"
Neo's bullet-time scene.

9. "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"
Dumbledore's death.

10. "Back to the Future"
Doc Brown's line "Where we're going, we don't need roads".

Other moments that made it onto the list include Buffy sacrificing Angel in the second season finale of "Buffy" at #17, and the bit with all the monsters being released in "The Cabin in the Woods " which came in at #64. The full 250 will be revealed in the magazine's print issue next month.
