Writer-director Mike Binder ("The Upside of Anger"), Don Cheadle and Adam Sandler are looking to team on a 9/11 project, marking the third major feature in the works based on the tragedy of 2001. Cheadle and Sandler are circling "Reign O'er Me," a Binder-scripted drama that Sony Pictures is angling to acquire and make next year with a budget under $20 million reports Variety.

Sandler would play a man who lost his family on Sept. 11 and has never recovered from his grief. He runs into his former college roommate (Cheadle), who has become a doctor and who is determined to help his ex-roomie come to grips with his loss.

Oliver Stone has already begun production for Paramount on an untitled drama that covers the attempt to rescue two Port Authority cops (Nicolas Cage & Michael Pena) trapped in the World Trade Center rubble. "Bourne Supremacy" director Paul Greengrass is busy at Universal making "Flight 93," a partly improvised film about what might have happened when passengers on the hijacked flight overpowered the terrorists, who crashed the plane in a vacant field, killing all aboard.
