Ansel Elgort ("Fault in our Stars," "Carrie") has signed to play the title role in the biopic "Van Cliburn" for Temple Hill and Crystal Entertainment. Ari Daniel Pinchot, Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen will produce.
Van Cliburn was a 23-year-old lanky pianist from Texas who emerged from out of nowhere to win the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow in 1958. Talks between Jared Leto and Legendary Pictures for the "Dallas Buyers Club" star to take over from Will Smith in Julius Onah's "Brilliance" have reportedly broken down. Leto, who met with Onah last Monday, reportedly turned down the role last week and puts him back in the running for Marvel's "Doctor Strange".

David Henrie ("Wizards of Waverley Place") is negotiating to join the cast of Dwayne Johnson-Cochran's true story basketball film "Men Of Granite".
Shirley MacLaine also stars in the film about a bunch of poor immigrant kids from Eastern Europe who triumph over American small-town bigotry to win the 1940 state basketball championship. Henrie plays Evon Parseghian, one of basketball players who is flirty but also dirt poor. [Source: Deadline]
Marc-Andre Grondin ("C.R.A.Z.Y"), Denis Menochet ("Inglourious Basterds"), Miranda Raison ("Spooks") and Brendan Coyle ("Downton Abbey") will lead the cast of the ten episode one hour crime drama "Spotless" which begins shooting next week in London for Canal Plus and Tandem Communications.
