One surprising rumor this week was a report from Latino Review indicating that the character of Nova would be the star of the post-credits sequence in Marvel and James Gunn's "Guardians of the Galaxy" film.
Said report also suggested that "Firefly" and "Castle" star Nathan Fillion could be playing him, the actor having hinted a few months back he has a cameo in the film.
Gunn has now taken to Twitter to shoot down much of the speculation, saying "The rumors of my pal Nathan Fillion playing Nova have been greatly (and entirely) exaggerated. Sorry, humans."
Asked if he was pulling a "Into Darkness", ie. straight up lying to keep a famed character/actor appearance a surprise, Gunn shot back saying "I would never & have never lied to fans."
A fan quickly followed that up asking if Fillion isn't playing Nova, is he still in the movie anyway? Gunn answered: "Fillion has a very small fun cameo he did as a favor to me."
So Fillion is in the movie, but what about Nova? The helmeted character could theoretically be played by anyone (except Fillion). For now, Gunn hasn't confirmed or denied if Nova is in the post-credits sequence.
