The proposed fifth film in Universal's Jason Bourne franchise, and the second to star Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross, has been significantly delayed.
Originally slated for an August 14th 2015 release, the project is now set to open eleven months later - on July 15th 2016. Justin Lin is directing the outing, about which there is little information at present.
No reason was given for the delay, but with the project still stuck in the early stages and Renner seemingly committed to filming a further along fifth "Mission Impossible" later this year/early next year, such a delay isn't a major surprise.
Universal hasn't wasted any time with a replacement though, slotting their N.W.A. biopic "Straight Outta Compton" into the slot.
