It may be ending this year, but the fanged citizens of Bon Temps, Louisiana may be strutting their stuff on the stage in the near future as a stage musical based on HBO's hit vampire series "True Blood" is in very early development.
Composer Nathan Barr, who has written the instrumental scores for the series' entire seven seasons of the show, tells THR that the project: "was something that I pitched to HBO and (show creator) Alan Ball. I think we're really going to try to return to the roots of the show."
Like the show, the musical will revolve around telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse. One of the show's stars, Stephen Moyer, helped Barr put together some samples of the musical which they presented to HBO and Ball.
It's a long way from an actual show though as Barr says he hopes to present a workshop version about a year from now.
