Sony Pictures has picked up "Smallville" creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar's script "Captain Nemo".
The story delivers a new take on the iconic antihero first introduced to readers in Jules Verne's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and two subsequent novels.
Nemo is a scientific genius who roams the depths of the sea in his submarine, The Nautilus. Joe Roth and Palak Patel ("Maleficent") are producing.
Gough and Millar, who also wrote "I Am Number Four" and "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor", will executive produce.
