Ice Cube's son O'Shea Jackson Jr. is apparently set to play his father in director F. Gary Gray's upcoming N.W.A. biopic "Straight Outta Compton" at Universal Pictures.
Cube himself, who has been reportedly pushing for this casting since February, describes the film as a "dramatic story that encompasses hip-hop, dope-dealing, Reaganomics, AIDS, LAPD, rap feuds, FBI, PMRC, the Parental Advisory stickers on the records... all of it."
The film traces the roots of the seminal rap group and their rise to fame against the violence-plagued streets of L.A.'s Compton neighborhood. "The Italian Job" helmer Gray is directing from a script by Jonathan Herman.
Universal haven't confirmed the casting, but a full cast could be announced before the end of the week. Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Tomica Woods-Wright, Will Packer and Matt Alvarez will produce.
