Lionsgate is moving forward with its plans for a theme park based on its highly successful "The Hunger Games" film franchise. Unlike the films, there doesn't appear to be a lot of implied child slaughter involved.
The Thinkwell Group will first mount a touring exhibit, "The Hunger Games: The Exhibition," to debut in North America next year. Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said during a conference call: "As a first step, we've already designed a state-of-the-art traveling museum involving costumes, props and other elements of the Hunger Games world that will begin touring the U.S. next summer."
The company is also eyeing theme park attractions and other location-based entertainment opportunities to generate new revenues from the franchise.
