Despite having perhaps the biggest cast of any TV series currently on the air, and not being afraid to kill members of it off at random intervals, HBO's "Game of Thrones" continues bringing in fresh faces each year.
The fourth season has seen the inclusion of new characters like Prince Oberyn Martell (Pedro Pascal) and his paramour Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma), the foolish Mace Tyrell (Roger Ashton-Griffiths), brutal wildling Styr (Joseph Gatt), Iron Bank head Tycho Nestoris (Mark Gatiss), and the recasting of both Daario Naharis and Gregor 'The Mountain' Clegane.
Production begins on the fifth season later this Summer and so casting for key new roles has begun. Whilst there's no actor names yet, Winter is Coming has a breakdown of some of the characters from the books that will play a key part next year.
The Martells of Dorne come into things big time next year and we might actually see some of it from the sounds of it with location scouting reportedly taking place in Spain for the first time. Amongst this group the key players are:
Prince Doran Martell, the reclusive, fifty-something, wheelchair bound brother of Oberyn.
Doran's handsome eighteen-year-old son Trystane, who is engaged to Cersei's daughter Myrcella.
Oberyn's often deadly bastard daughters Obara, Nymeria and Tyene - collectively referred to as 'The Sand Snakes' - who're aged 18-25.
Areo Hotah, Trystane's loyal bodyguard. A black actor is being sought for this role, whilst latino actors are being sought for the other Dorne characters.
Further north, two members of Westeros' dominant religion 'The Faith of the Seven' come into play with both working at the 'Great Sept' - that giant church we've seen in various episodes.
One is High Sparrow, the religion's equivalent of the Pope, the other is Septa Unella - essentially a female priest of that order.
Another key character is 'The Waif,' a strange teenager that Arya encounters. Actresses of East Asian descent are being looked at for the part.
Other minor characters include Bronn's fiance Lollys Stokeworth, a sleazy Meereenese slave owner named Yezzan, and a fortune teller named Maggy the Frog.
The site claims the character list is NOT complete so there'll probably be more. Another question is if actors Ian Gelder and Roger Allam will also be reprising their very brief roles from several seasons ago in the new season as both their characters play key parts.
