Marvel's "Ant-Man" Loses Edgar Wright

In an official joint statement, Marvel Studios and filmmaker Edgar Wright have jointly announced that the studio and director have parted ways on the upcoming "Ant-Man" film.

The statement indicates the decision is due to creative differences, the departure is amicable, and it will not impact the release date of July 17th 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.

Filming is expected to remain on course for this summer with cast members Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michael Pena, Patrick Wilson and Corey Stoll currently in place - we'll see if that holds.

Wright, pictured above with Martin Freeman in what he amusingly dubs a 'Doctor Who companion pose', has been attached to the film essentially since its inception almost a decade ago. The project is currently in the late pre-production phase which gives you an idea of how unexpected this is.
