Scrambling to capitalize on consumer interest in anything related to its monster animated hit "Frozen," Disney has disclosed plans for an ice skating spectacular based on the film. The Disney on Ice production will begin touring in September.
The production will be the skating equivalent of a touring Broadway musical, boasting a cast of 39 performers and nine tractor-trailers to move from city to city.
Feld Entertainment says patrons can expect a blizzard created by twenty snow machines, a stage inspired by a six-sided snowflake, and towering video projection panels to simulate the movie's environments.
Patty Vincent is directing the tour which will start in Orlando, Florida. "Frozen" has taken in more than $1.2 billion worldwide since its November release. DVD and digital download sales have also been among the best Hollywood has ever seen.
