Warner Bros. Pictures has confirmed that its upcoming "Harry Potter" spinoff feature "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" has secured a November 18th 2016 release date.
Based on the J.K. Rowling book of the same name, the story takes place within the Harry Potter universe but doesn't involve any of the main characters from the book series. It is intended to be the first of a potential new franchise though.
Rowling herself is penning the screenplay, though no director is yet attached.
Meanwhile, Terrence Malick's long-gestating and ambitious documentary "Voyage of Time" looks like it will finally be completed in 2016 with a feature-length version and a 40-minute large-format version both set to be delivered.
Wild Bunch will present first images of the project to selected buyers at Cannes this week.
