Michael Giacchino To Score "Jurassic World"

"Star Trek," "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" and frequent Pixar composer Michael Giacchino has signed on to score "Jurassic World" for Universal Pictures.

Funnily enough this isn't Giacchino's first brush with the franchise, his very first composing job was to write the score for a video game based on 1997's "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" - one of the earliest console video games to feature an original orchestral score.

The film's director Colin Trevorrow says: "While this new score will honor the indelible work of John Williams, our mission is the same as the film itself — to create something bold and new for people who love dinosaurs."

Giacchino's work can next be heard on this summer's "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" and "Jupiter Ascending".
