Wedge Antilles Not Returning To "Star Wars"

It looks like one of the minor players in the original "Star Wars" trilogy will NOT be coming back.

Denis Lawson, who played Rebel Alliance pilot Wedge Antilles in all three of the original films, has revealed that he will not be returning for J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII".

The character has earned a cult following over the years, and in fact Abrams offered Lawson a part. However, the actor turned down the offer. He explained to The Courier:

"I'm not going to do that....They asked me but it just would have bored me."

Lawson, who reprised the role in a 2001 "Star Wars" video game, had previously stated he would only return for 'Episode VII' if he was offered a substantially bigger role than his part in the first three films.

Lawson has another connection to the "Star Wars" universe - in real life his nephew is the young Obi-Wan Kenobi himself actor Ewan McGregor.
