Jay Roach ("Austin Powers," "The Campaign") has signed on to direct the baseball sex scandal drama "The Trade" at Warner Bros. Pictures.
The story is based on a 1970s incident in which New York Yankees pitchers Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich admitted to swapping wives with each other.
Matt Damon was at one time eyeing the project to make his directorial debut on, but that didn't coalesce. Casey Affleck wrote the most recent draft of the script, which was originally written by David Mandel.
Damon, Jennifer Todd and Ben Affleck are still on board as producers, but will not be starring. They're the ones who've kept pursuing the project and have convinced Roach to come onboard.
