Butler Drops Out Of "Point Break" Remake

Gerard Butler has dropped out of the "Point Break" remake setup at Alcon Entertainment.

Butler was to have played Bodey, the character played by Patrick Swayze in the original 1991 cult classic. Butler's departure is said to be due to both creative differences and a scheduling conflict.

Specifically filming on the "Point Break" remake begins in June and takes up much of the rest of this year, but Butler is already committed to filming the "Olympus Has Fallen" sequel "London Has Fallen" this Fall.

Alcon is intent on maintaining its start date though, and so will recast the part in coming weeks. Luke Bracey is still onboard as FBI agent Johnny Utah, the role originally played by Keanu Reeves.

Ericson Core helms the film from a script by Kurt Wimmer.
