Xbox Entertainment Studios and Showtime are reportedly in negotiations to partner on the live-action TV series based on the popular "Halo" video game franchise.
Steven Spielberg's Amblin TV has been developing the series for more than a year, and a deal is almost done to secure two showrunners to steer the adaptation following an expansive bible by screenwriter Stuart Beattie ("G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra," "I, Frankenstein"). Spielberg will executive produce.
Details are still being drawn up, but the current plan is to have the episodes debut on Showtime before they are available on Xbox where they will be offered with "enhanced interactivity".
Xbox Studios is not aiming for a straight-to-series pickup.
