David Goyer ("Man of Steel," "Batman Begins") has been tapped to write the treatment for a remake of 1966 sci-fi classic "Fantastic Voyage" at James Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment and 20th Century Fox.
Goyer is just the latest scribe to take a crack at the project following the likes of Shane Salerno, Cormac and Marianne Wibberly, and Laeta Kalogridis over the past decade.
The story revolves around a team of scientists who are shrunk to atomic size and sent in a miniature submarine inside the body of a scientist to save his life.
The project has been quiet for years, but Goyer's re-engineering of the script into a major tentpole event has put it on the fast track. Cameron, Jon Landau, and Rae Sanchini are producing, while Goyer will also executive produce.
