Steven Spielberg is attached to direct a live-action film adaptation of Roald Dahl's 1982 children's book "The BFG" for DreamWorks.
The story is based on the fantastical tale of a Big Friendly Giant who befriends a young orphan girl. Melissa Mathison ("E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial"), wrote the screenplay while Frank Marshall will produce.
While Spielberg is attached to numerous films at the moment, BFG is a go with an early 2015 production start being committed to. The question is if Spielberg can fit in a smaller film first and if so, it'll likely be the Cold War thriller with Tom Hanks announced the other day.
