Jason Voorhees is coming to the small screen.

Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films and Crystal Lake Entertainment have set a deal to produce a new hour-long dramatic series based upon the characters and settings of the "Friday The 13th" film franchise.

Bill Basso ("Terminator") and Jordu Schell ("Avatar") will script a storyline that re-imagines Jason Voorhees in multiple time periods. SOTA FX's Roy Knyrim ("Gods And Monsters") will co-ordinate the special make-up effects for the series.

Most of the action will be in contemporary times, focusing on the eclectic characters of Crystal Lake who are forced to confront the return of the killer as new secrets about the Voorhees family are revealed.

Sean S. Cunningham, who helmed the original 1980 film, will serve as executive producer alongside Randall Emmett, George Furla, Mark Canton, Steve B. Harris, Robert Barsamian and Ted Fox.

A "Friday the 13th" series was produced back in the late 1980s, though that one had no story connections to the film series.
