Mattel and Sony Pictures are teaming up to produce a live action contemporary comedy movie based on the most famous doll in the world - Barbie.
Jenny Bicks ("Rio 2," "The Big C") is penning the script, though plot details are unknown. Considering the doll has had 150 careers throughout her decades of existence, it's hard to say what will be included beyond her signature pink Malibu mansion.
Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are set to produce with filming to begin before the end of the year.
Universal Pictures has previously tried to get a "Barbie" movie off the ground in 2009 but it didn't happen. This will mark the second Mattel and Sony film adaptation in the works, the other being the He-Man reboot "Masters of the Universe".
There's also the issue of finding an actress who would fit Barbie's physiologically impossible measurements of 39-21-33 and size 3 feet, as amusingly pointed out in this clip from British game show "Q.I.".
