The first two photos have been released from the upcoming LEGO-themed episode of "The Simpsons" scheduled to air on Fox on May 4th.
Co-executive producer Brian Kelley and executive producer Matt Selman, the two guys primarily responsible for the episode, spoke with EW about the challenge of the episode which began its gestation back in early 2012 - long before they knew about the recently released "The LEGO Movie".
Due to the computer rendering, the episode was more "front-loaded" than usual and the script had to be done and set before the animation began. In terms of the look, it's said to be halfway between that of "The LEGO Movie" and the Lego CGI cartoons. As for the actual plot?
"We thought it was cool to start off in the world of Lego and have all the characters think that this was their normal life. Then through a series of bizarre flashbacks, Homer starts to suspect that the Lego world isn't where he belongs. So he starts tearing away at the fabric of what he thinks is reality, which is never a great idea. At the end of the day, he has to choose between the world of plastic and the world of meat."
