"Assassin's Creed" Film Scores New Scribes

By Garth Franklin Monday April 7th 2014 10:59PM

Bill Collage and Adam Cooper have signed on to pen a rewrite of the script for the film adaptation of the "Assassin's Creed" video game series at New Regency and Ubisoft Motion Pictures Group.

Michael Fassbender is attached to star as Desmond Miles, a bartender who is a descendant of several lines of prominent assassins. The story weaves between present day and ancient times as Miles squares off with the Knights Templar.

Collage and Cooper, who penned Ridley Scott's upcoming Biblical epic "Exodus: Gods & Kings," will rework the original draft penned by Michael Lesslie which then scored a polish by Scott Frank.

At last report "Safe House" director Daniel Espinosa was being considered to direct, no word if that's still the case. The film remains on track for an August 7th 2015 release.

The project is just the latest film for Collage and Cooper who're in the midst of adapting "Devil In The Grove" for lionsgate, "The Maccabee" for Protozoa Pictures, the earthquake film "Shake" for Bruckheimer Productions and the limited series "Pinkerton" for FX Studios.
