Xbox Produces Synthetic "Humans" TV Series

Xbox Entertainment Studios is teaming with UK broadcaster Channel 4 to co-produce the drama series "Humans". The project has received a straight-to-series eight-episode order.

Kudos Entertainment ("Broadchurch," "Spooks") is developing the project which is a remake of the Swedish series "Real Humans". Production begins this Summer ahead of a 2015 premiere in the United States and United Kingdom.

The story is set in a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget are 'Synths,' highly-developed robotic servants eerily similar to humans.

One strained suburban family purchases a refurbished synth, only to later learn the unexpected consequences of living life with a synthetic humanoid.

The project marks the first official scripted series green light for Xbox Entertainment Studios. The company has several projects in development, most notably a "Halo" series, but this will be the first to go into production.
