They're Making A "Goonies" Sequel

Filmmaker Richard Donner has dropped something of a bombshell with news that he's making a sequel to his classic 1985 adventure film "The Goonies".

TMZ was with Donner in person when he confirmed they are doing a sequel. Asked if any of the original film's stars are coming back, he said "hopefully all of them".

Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Martha Plimpton, Jonathan Ke Quan, Kerri Green, Jeff Cohen, Robert Davi and Joe Pantoliano starred in the original about a group of kids set out on an adventure in search of pirate treasure that could save their homes from foreclosure.

Two of the original cast members, Anne Ramsey (Mama Fratelli) and John Matuszak (Sloth) have since passed away. Brolin, Astin, Plimpton, Davi and Pantoliano are all still busy working actors to this day. Green only occasionally acts and now produces films as well, Cohen has become an entertainment lawyer, and Ke Quan is a stunt choreographer.
