"12 Years a Slave" star Chiwetel Ejiofor is reportedly the frontrunner to play the villain in the currently untitled next James Bond movie repots The Wrap.
Sam Mendes is directing the 24th film in the spy franchise, which stars Daniel Craig as Bond and sees the return of Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris reprising their roles from "Skyfall".
The report says Ejiofor hasn't begun formal talks let alone had an official offer, but he is widely presumed to be the frontrunner amongst the other actors under consideration.
There's two other key roles to be cast - the main new Bond girl, and a Scandinavian woman with a troubled past who will serve as a casual fling for Bond.
Sony, MGM and Ejiofor's reps declined comment. Production on the next Bond film is currently slated to begin in November.
