Various studios are vying for an upcoming project that could see the teaming of actress Meryl Streep, scribe Diablo Cody and filmmaker Jonathan Demme.
Demme ("The Silence of the Lambs," "Rachel Getting Married") is attached to direct "Ricky and the Flash," a script by Cody ("Juno," "Jennifer's Body"), with Streep attached to star.
Streep would play a woman who abandoned her family when she was younger to find fame and fortune as a rock star. Decades later, she decides to be a mother again to her estranged children, one of whom is going through a divorce.
Marc Platt and Mason Novick will produce. Universal and Fox 2000 are among various studios keen on the project.
Demme and Streep previously worked together on 2004's remake of "The Manchurian Candidate".
