With a resume stretching from "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" to "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never," it's not a major surprise to hear that filmmaker Jon M. Chu is reportedly attached to direct a "Jem and the Holograms" feature.
A joint Hasbro, Marvel and Sunbow Productions series, the original mid-late 1980s cartoon followed a musical superstar named Jem, who is actually a young woman named Jerrica Benton who uses a holographic computer to clandestinely perform rock concerts.
Christy Marx created the property while Jason Blum and Scooter Braun are set to produce the film version. The news was revealed via a video announcement in which they also talk about their approach to the property.
