Universal Pictures has announced a January 15th 2016 release date for a sequel to this year's sleeper hit comedy smash "Ride Along".
The follow-up will go against another film series that also opened its first film on the same day this year - "The Nut Job". Both are set for the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday weekend in two years time.
Ice Cube and Kevin Hart are reprising their roles as James Payton and Ben Barber from "Ride Along" which which has grossed over $130 million domestically (but only $10 million internationally).
Tim Story is directing from a script by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. Filming is slated to begin this summer.
