No deal is yet set, but "Girls" star Adam Driver is reportedly close to signing on to play the villain in J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: Episode VII".
All that's known about the character is that he's said to be "in the vein of iconic villain Darth Vader". Michael Fassbender and Hugo Weaving were also rumored for this particular role.
If he signs, he'd be the first official new cast member to be revealed for J.J. Abrams-directed event film which begins shooting at London's Pinewood Studios in April.
One issue with Driver's casting has been issues of scheduling with his "Girls" commitments, something that has now apparently been resolved and the deal is expected to be finalized in coming days.
Driver made headlines late last year when he was rumored for a key role in another major upcoming project - that of Nightwing/Dick Grayson in "Batman vs. Superman".
