"Daley," a Sundance Filmmaker Lab project written by Brougher, follows a forensic psychologist (Swinton) investigating a 17-year-old (Tamblyn) accused of infanticide. Universal has bought a sci-fi pitch from Simon Kinberg ("Mr. and Mrs. Smith") and Brett Matthews (TV's "Firefly"). Details on the thriller are being kept under wraps for now, but pic will be written by Matthews. Kinberg wouldn't elaborate on the story except to say, "It's more thriller than big, broad action; more gritty than other sci-fi movies we've seen in the recent past. Almost what 'Bourne Identity' did for action movies, this will attempt to do for sci-fi movies"..." (full details)

Neal Moritz's Original Film, Benderspink and Mason Novick have bought the thriller script "Curve" by Kimberly Lofstrom Johnson, and will jointly produce. Pic is described as a female-in-jeopardy thriller, along the lines of "Red Eye" and "Panic Room"..." (full details)
