It has taken a while to get here but now it's set - Jai Courtney has officially landed the coveted role of Kyle Reese in "Terminator: Genesis" for Paramount Pictures.
The Australian actor beat out the likes of Sam Reid, Wilson Bethel and Boyd Holbrook for the role. He joins Jason Clarke as John Connor, Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor and Arnold Schwarzenegger in the film.
In the original 1984 film, Michael Biehn played Kyle Reese - a soldier sent back in time by resistance leader John Connor to save his mother Sarah. Kyle ultimately became John's actual father.
Alan Taylor directs this entry which is said to be the first of a standalone trilogy and is expected to take place both in the future and a presently unknown time in the past before John was born.
Courtney is best known for his role as John McClane's son Jack in last year's "A Good Day to Die Hard" along with the villainous Charlie in the "Jack Reacher" movie. He also had a memorable role on the first season of "Spartacus", the small role of Gideon in the recent "I, Frankenstein" and plays the key supporting role of Eric in the "Divergent" film franchise.
He's most recently been shooting both Angelina Jolie's "Unbroken" and Russell Crowe's "The Water Diviner" in Australia.
