"Monster Trucks" Movie Gets Into Gear

Paramount Pictures looks to be moving forward with its $100 million film adaptation of Hasbro's "Monster Trucks" toy line which Chris Wedge ("Ice Age") is set to direct.

Even though a May 29th 2015 release date is set and production is slated for this summer, the official green light still hasn't been given.

That hasn't stopped the studio eyeing up actors Lucas Till ("X-Men: First Class") and Jane Levy ("Suburgator") for the lead roles in the potential franchise launcher, though no formal offers are said to be on the table as yet.

If they do close deals, Till would play a bad boy with a good heart, Levy would play a character said to resemble a "high school version of Tina Fey". Dylan Minnette and Nick Robinson were also previously linked for roles but have since committed to other projects.

Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger ("Kung Fu Panda") will pen the script which is said to be an Amblin-esque movie that will be a blend of "The Goonies" and "Transformers".
