BBC America is working on a dark and gritty reboot of the Robin Hood story with the proposed "soapy class drama" series "Nottingham".
Cole Haddon, who created NBC's "Dracula," is behind this new interpretation which posits the idea that Robin Hood and his nemesis, the Sheriff of Nottingham, were the same person.
In this take, the Sheriff's wife is killed by King John's men. When nobody is brought to justice, the Sheriff launches a one-man war against the ruler.
By day he's the reviled and loyal to the crown, by night he puts on a hood and systematically raids the King's allies - giving the spoils to the starving peasantry and starting a rebellion.
"The Blacklist" production studios Sony Pictures TV and Davis Entertainment are producing this take which John Davis and John Fox will executive produce.
