It may have been the first studio to go with all-digital format film releases domestically starting with "The Wolf of Wall Street," but Paramount has had to make one exception to that commitment - Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar".
In a statement today, Paramount's vice chairman Rob Moore says: "Although we anticipate the majority of the studio’s future releases to be executed in digital formats across the U.S., select exceptions will be made."
The first will be "Interstellar," which Nolan shot on both 35mm film and on IMAX (like he did with both "The Dark Knight" and "The Dark Knight Rises"). The movie will be released in both film and digital formats on November 7th.
While most directors have made the move over to digital, Nolan is one of the most famous holdouts who is sticking to film for the time being.
