Trailer: James Franco's "Child of God"

By Garth Franklin Monday January 20th 2014 11:09PM

Author Cormac McCarthy is known for his very dark tales. Yet the likes of "No Country for Old Men" and "The Road" kind of pale to some of his earliest efforts.

One of the absolute darkest though is "Child of God" which follows a former family man now living in underground caves in Tennessee trying to exist outside society. He soon descends into increasingly darker behaviour with a big focus on necrophilia and pedophilia.

No major studio or filmmaker has been brave enough to touch it, which made the material like catnip for actor and filmmaker James Franco. Franco filmed a low-budget adaptation of the work in early 2012 starring Scott Haze, with the final film screening at various film festivals over the Fall.

Now, the first trailer for it has arrived. The trailer is up at Apple Trailers.
