The 2014 Oscar Nominations

The 86th Annual Academy Award nominations have been announced with both "Gravity" and "American Hustle" leading the pack with ten nominations each, followed closely by "12 Years a Slave" with nine.

Also faring well were "Captain Phillips," "Dallas Buyers Club" and "Nebraska" with six; "Her" and "The Wolf of Wall Street" with five; and "Philomena" with four.

The only real surprises were that some favorites barely scored their one or two lower category nominations including "All is Lost," "Inside Llewyn Davis," "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom," "Prisoners" and "Saving Mr. Banks". Others like "Fruitvale Station" and "Lee Daniels' The Butler" were shut out entirely.

Others were shocks in specific categories - no "Stories We Tell" or "Blackfish" for documentary, no Robert Redford for Best Actor, Paul Greengrass for director or Scarlett Johansson for actress. Here's the complete list:
