Sony Pictures Classics has acquired North American rights to Janos Szasz's "The Notebook," Hungary's Best Foreign Language Film Oscar submission.
Set on the onset of WWII, the story follows thirteen year old twins abandoned by their parents and forced to live with their cruel grandmother in a village on the Hungarian border. The twins learn to survive in challenging circumstances. [Source: Deadline]
Sin City: A Dame To Kill for
Dark Horse Comics will celebrate the upcoming sequel movie with three deluxe editions of the comic, including a hardcover reissue for the original A Dame to Kill For itself, along with "Frank Miller's Big Damn Sin City" - a 1,344 page oversized hardcover collecting all seven original stories. The Writer's Guild Awards
The Writer's Guild have announced the nominations for their annual awards. "American Hustle," "Blue Jasmine," "Dallas Buyers Club," "Her" and "Nebraska" are competing for original screenplay while "August: Osage County," "Before Midnight," "Captain Phillips," "Lone Survivor" and "The Wolf of Wall Street" are up for adapted screenplay.
Due to certain rules, several high-profile titles were ineligible for nomination this year including "12 Years A Slave," "Blue is the Warmest Color," "Fruitvale Station" and "Philomena". [Source: WGA.org]
