The two week Christmas/New Year break are the quietest time of the year for film and TV news, and so wild rumors from smaller sites have been gaining media traction.
For some time it has been thought that 20th Century Fox wants to bring its Marvel Comics properties together to create their own self-contained mini-Marvel Cinematic Universe. With "X-Men" going strong and Josh Trank's reboot of the "Fantastic Four" franchise in the works, it's understandable.
A few days ago, Motley Fool posted a report claiming Fox is looking into adapting the 1987 comic story arc "Fantastic Four vs. The X-Men" to bring the two franchises together. The site has since retracted the story.
Onto the next one, and a few weeks back came a rumor that Denzel Washington was being targeted to play Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder's upcoming "Batman vs. Superman". Now, a source for Nuke the Fridge claims Denzel is actually being considered for the role of Green Lantern himself John Stewart. Posting the story on Friday, the site is standing by its report.
