MacFarlane On Brian's "Family Guy" Return

By Garth Franklin Monday December 16th 2013 09:15AM

"Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane has obviously enjoyed all the outcry over the seeming death of beloved dog character Brian Griffin.

Despite being killed off three weeks ago in a car accident, Brian returned last night in the show's Christmas episode thanks to a bit of time travel trickery which saw the alternate Brian-less timeline erased.

MacFarlane tweeted: "And thus endeth our warm, fuzzy holiday lesson: Never take those you love for granted, for they can be gone in a flash. I mean, you didn't really think we'd kill off Brian, did you? Jesus, we'd have to be f---ing high. Oh and hey… thanks for caring so much about the canine Griffin. He is overcome with gratitude."

Ultimately only one fully Brian-less episode, last week's "Into Harmony's Way," ended up airing. Despite all the 'death and resurrection' of Brian being planned and crafted months ago, and despite most fans expecting this reversal, a Change.org petition demanding Brian's return still managed to pull in over 128,507 signatures worldwide.
