"Homeland" producers Howard Gordon and Gideon Raff have been given a series order for "Tyrant", a ten-episode high stakes drama to air on FX. Filming begins in March in Tel Aviv with at least ten episodes to be produced.
In the series Bassam "Barry" Al Fayeed (Adam Rayner), the younger son of the dictator of a war-torn nation, ends a self-imposed exile to return for his nephew's wedding, accompanied by his American wife (Jennifer Finnigan) and children. FX's biker drama closed out its sixth and penultimate season with its most-watched finale to date - scoring 5.2 million viewers in its original telecast and 6.4 million over the two telecasts for the night.
The show also scored 3.5 million adults 18-49 for the original and a further 0.8 million for the encore. With DVR added in, the series is currently averaging 7.3 million viewers an episode and 5.0 million 18-49 yer olds, basic cable's third best scoring drama behind only "The Walking Dead" and the late "Breaking Bad". The CW has decided to shake up its midseason schedule, shifting around a bunch of shows and inserting various new ones. "Hart of Dixie" will move from Mondays to Fridays at 9pm. "The Tomorrow People" will move from Wednesdays to Mondays at 9pm from March 17th once "Beauty and the Beast" goes on hiatus.
New series "Star-Crossed" premieres Mondays 8pm from February 17th, while the post-apocalyptic drama "The 100" premieres on Wednesdays at 9pm from March 19th. Tuesday and Thursday night line-ups, and "Arrow" on Wednesdays, remain unaffected. [Source: We Love Soaps]
ABC Studios-based production division Signature is developing a straight-to-series adaptation of a Stephen King short-story for ABC. "Haven" writers Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn will produce.
"Grand Central" is a character-driven procedural with a supernatural twist, based on King's short "The New York Times at Special Bargain Rates". The story deals with a widow who answers a phone call from her husband who died two days earlier in a plane crash. The husband predicts two tragedies that later come true and helps his wife avoid death. [Source: The Live Feed]
