"Awkward" Renewed, "Roughness" Axed

MTV has given an early ten-episode back order for the fourth season of the comedy series "Awkward".

Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler are taking over as the new showrunners starting with season four. The pickup brings the total order to twenty episodes, the same as the currently airing season three.

The news wasn't so good for USA's sports-themed drama "Necessary Roughness" which has been cancelled after three seasons.

Callie Thorne starred as a therapist for a pro football team who begins working for high profile athletes, musicians and politicians.

Debuting in 2011, the show pulled in 4.5 million viewers on launch. That number dropped to around half that amount by the end of the third season.
