After great success with last year's clip "An Unexpected Briefing", Air New Zealand has created another "The Hobbit"-themed commercial just in time for next month's release of "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug".
While that first film's ad was an inflight safety video, this one is more a straight up tourism commercial with a dash of Kiwi humor. The ad focuses on the similarities of New Zealand and Middle Earth, to the point that tourists start turning into creatures from Tolkien's world. Dean O'Gorman (Fili in the films) features in the commercial which also sports narration from Sylvester McCoy (Radagast the Brown).
The commercial arrives at the same time that Air New Zealand is set to give Hobbit fans the chance to join the celebration with the stars at the red carpet premiere of "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" in Hollywood.
Fans from around the world can enter for their chance to win one of four trips of a lifetime for two to their choice of either Middle-earth (New Zealand) or to the premiere of "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" in Los Angeles, including airfares, accommodation and rental car.
