While Microsoft has used the promise of a new "Halo" game since E3 to try and help sell its Xbox One console, Sony has oddly kept dead quiet about a new entry in arguably its biggest game franchise - the "Uncharted" series.
It has been known that the development teams at Naughty Dog, the company behind the series, split into two separate teams a while back. The first team focused on "The Last of Us," a game that scored a release a few months back and has become one of the year's most acclaimed titles.
The other team has been working on a secret next-gen project, one which many expected to be a fourth "Uncharted". Now, during the live-stream of the official launch party of the PlayStation 4, Naughty Dog and Sony confirmed that a new "Uncharted" title is on the way for the PS4.
A deliberately very vague announcement trailer was also released. Like the fifth "Halo" teaser a few months back, there's no word of a release date or even a possible title as yet. The monologue and maps however indicate a definite throwback to Sir Francis Drake and potentially hint at a new direction for the series.
