Paramount has purchased a comedy pitch about women's roller derby from the sibling scribe team of Jeff and Craig Cox says Variety.
Yet-to-be-titled pic will revolve around the recent emergence of roller derby, which had been largely dormant in recent decades after peaking in the 1950s. Sport was reborn in 2001 in Texas and has been reinvigorated in recent years with an estimated 35 all-female leagues now in operation and teams with names such as Queens of Pain, Brooklyn Bombshells and Manhattan Mayhem.
The project will include extensive rock music and is described as bringing in elements of "A League of Their Own" and "Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story."
Thanks to 'Willis'.
