Swayze's "Ghost" Becomes A TV Series

Paramount TV is developing a TV series remake of the hit 1990 romantic supernatural dramedy "Ghost".

Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg starred in the iconic original which dealt with loving couple Sam and Molly Jensen who are attacked by a mugger one night during which Sam is killed.

Now a ghost, he tries to reconnect with his fiancé with the help of a charlatan medium. At the same time, he learns the truth about his death and must hurry to stop Molly from succumbing to the same fate.

The film won two Oscars and became a massive global hit with a gross of $505 million worldwide from a budget of just $21 million. "Fringe" producers Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner will co-write the pilot based on the movie.

The project is the first from Paramount's re-launched TV division which is expected to mine the studio's library for further small screen remakes.
