In an interesting left field choice, 29 year-old rising character actor Adam Driver ("Girls," "Lincoln," "J. Edgar") is said to be a serious contender to play a key role in Zack Snyder's "Batman vs. Superman" at Warner Bros. Pictures.
That role? Batman's estranged partner Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing (formerly Robin). Driver is said to be the frontrunner for the part, but the studio had no comment.
This would match the casting description the other day of the character being a "young John Hawkes" type, an actor who boasts a less conventional look and a lot of actual talent. Driver's also around the same height as Affleck, which is a plus.
Two other actors are said to be in contention to play Grayson, a character who has been estranged from a world-weary Bruce Wayne for years in the movie. Production is slated to begin early next year.
