Having already garnered $152.8 million in its first week of release in many overseas territories, "Thor: The Dark World" is now set to hammer smash the U.S. domestic box-office.
Thursday night previews ahead of today's opening pulled in a strong $7.1 million last night, more than double the $3.2 million earned by the first film. That said, 'Dark World' began its early rollout at 8pm on some screens so it's not an exact comparison.
Early estimates have the film likely to earn more than $90-95 million over the weekend, beating the record opening for early November held by last year's "Skyfall" with $88 million. It's also well above the $65 million opening of the first film.
